About the Projects and Maintenance Department
The P&M department performs a wide range of tasks in support of the College of Forestry, including:
- Repair/maintenance of scientific equipment or other lab / classroom equipment
- Fabrication of specialized equipment, cabinetry, etc. using metalworking and/or woodworking shop machines
- Maintenance of College-owned buildings in Peavy Arboretum, including 4 rental residences
- Remodeling lab/classroom spaces to better support specific academic or research requirements
- Cutting precise wood samples for use in research
- Logistics support, including handling/delivery of heavy items via forklift, office furniture moving/installation, assisting with setup/takedown for COF events, arranging for storage of research equipment or materials as needed
- Serve as primary liaison with OSU Facilities to coordinate maintenance or repairs beyond our scope (such as repairs requiring licensed electricians/plumbers/HVAC techs, key and lock work, etc.)
- Produce high-quality laser-engraved wood signs, plaques, nametags, and other items as required
- Other special projects as assigned
